2026 Telecoms Q1 & Q2 Round-Up

As we move into the second half of 2026, one thing is clear; telecommunications is no longer simply about keeping businesses connected. Across mobile, broadband, IoT, UCaaS and CCaaS, connectivity has become a strategic enabler of productivity, customer experience and operational resilience.

The first six months of the year have seen UK businesses accelerate digital transformation programmes, fuelled by ongoing investment in fibre infrastructure, 5G expansion and cloud-based communications platforms.

Mobile connectivity continues to evolve beyond traditional voice and data services, with businesses increasingly relying on mobile-first workforces, eSIM adoption and enhanced network capabilities to support flexible working environments. UK mobile subscriptions and data consumption continue to grow, highlighting the increasing dependence on always-on connectivity.

Broadband connectivity

Broadband connectivity has remained at the heart of business operations.

The continued rollout of full-fibre networks and improvements in coverage have enabled organisations to embrace cloud applications, AI-powered tools and hybrid working models with greater confidence.

For many businesses, resilient connectivity is no longer a competitive advantage, it is a fundamental requirement. As organisations become more dependent on cloud services, downtime and performance issues carry a greater commercial impact than ever before.

The Internet of Things (IoT)

The Internet of Things (IoT) has also gained significant momentum throughout.

Businesses across logistics, construction, facilities management and manufacturing are increasingly deploying connected devices to improve visibility, automate processes and drive efficiency. Rather than focusing purely on connectivity, organisations are now looking at IoT as a source of operational intelligence, enabling real-time decision making and measurable cost savings. Private networks, managed IoT solutions and secure device connectivity have become key discussion points in boardrooms across the UK.

In communications, the migration away from legacy telephony has accelerated. UCaaS platforms are helping businesses unify voice, video, messaging and collaboration into a single cloud environment. The result is greater flexibility for employees, simplified management for IT teams and improved business continuity. As hybrid working matures, businesses are increasingly prioritising integrated communications platforms that support productivity regardless of location.

Meanwhile, customer experience remains a defining business priority. CCaaS adoption has continued to rise as organisations seek smarter ways to engage customers across voice, email, chat and digital channels. AI-driven automation, intelligent routing and enhanced analytics are helping businesses deliver faster responses and more personalised service while improving operational efficiency.

Looking ahead in Telecoms

Looking ahead

The focus is shifting from deployment to optimisation. Businesses are no longer asking whether they need better connectivity and communications solutions; they are asking how to extract greater value from the investments already made. The organisations that succeed will be those that view telecoms not as a utility, but as a platform for growth, innovation and customer engagement.

At Connect365, we expect the remainder of 2026 to be defined by smarter connectivity, deeper integration and an increasing convergence between communications, data and business applications. For forward-thinking organisations, the opportunity is significant, and the time to capitalise on it is now.
